What is Sudan Red?
It is an industrial dye that presents a bright red color to enhance appearance, but it is prohibited to be added to food according to regulations.
What are the risks?
According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), Sudan Red is classified as a Group 3 carcinogen, meaning prolonged consumption may be toxic to the liver and kidneys.
Which foods might it be added to?
Chili powder, curry powder, seasoning powder, and duck egg yolks
